Our Story Through Time

From a small study group in Welling to becoming a trusted name in financial education across the UK. Here's how sorellivara evolved to help thousands understand money management and investment principles.

2019

The Beginning

Started in Marcus Thornfield's living room with just five neighbours who wanted to understand their pension statements better. What began as weekend coffee discussions about ISAs and mortgages quickly grew when word spread about our straightforward approach to explaining financial concepts.

Digital Expansion

The pandemic pushed us online, but it opened doors we never expected. Our first virtual workshops reached people from Scotland to Cornwall. We developed our structured curriculum and started offering monthly webinars that consistently filled up within hours of announcement.

Community Growth

Moved to our Cumberland Avenue location and built partnerships with local libraries and community centres. Our learning programs now cover everything from basic budgeting to understanding market dynamics, with each course designed around real-world scenarios our participants actually face.

The Foundation Story

Marcus Thornfield wasn't planning to start an educational company. He was a financial analyst who got tired of watching friends make expensive mistakes with their money. After his neighbour lost £3,000 to a dodgy investment scheme, Marcus decided something needed to change.

The idea was simple: teach people to ask the right questions before making financial decisions. No jargon, no complicated theories – just practical knowledge that works in real life. Those early sessions covered basic topics like understanding credit scores and comparing insurance policies.

What surprised everyone was how much people craved this kind of straightforward financial education. Within six months, we had a waiting list. Within a year, we were booking community halls. By 2021, we knew this had become something much bigger than weekend chats.

Looking Ahead to 2026

We're developing new programs that address the questions people are actually asking today. How do you budget when prices keep changing? What does sustainable investing really mean? How do you plan for retirement when everything feels uncertain?

Sarah Chen

Head of Education

"Every program we design starts with listening to what people actually need to know, not what we think they should learn."

Our next learning program launches in September 2025, focusing on practical money management in an uncertain economy. We're also planning workshops specifically for young adults navigating their first major financial decisions.
